From the Inside Outside
I am interested in exploring our relationship to patterns found in nature, through the material study of glass. Working with the classic Swedish technique of Graal, I examine the relationships between the positive and negative ground through transparency and opacity, and the pattern this creates. The contained interior space is intriguing, by how the inner reflection of light and shadow affects the exterior form, and the effect of light being diffused through line. Giant Ginko screen print on silk organza fused in toughened glass panels for sliding doors: Photographer: L &B
Etched Shower Screen
This was an unusual piece as the screen was to be embedded into a wall within the stairwell, which shared the same wall as the bathroom. This idea made good use of two light sources. The sky light from the bathroom, was able to give light to the stairwell, through the shower screen, which was reciprocated with the sky light above the stairs adding light also through the screen to the bathroom. As the shower is in full view of the stairs, the screen needed to have some added privacy which was accomplished by etching the surface with details from the silk screen print fused within the glass, and thus enhancing the artwork, by adding another dimension to the surface.
Kitchen Splash backs
Two kitchen splash backs, for behind the cooker, &the sink. Hand printed on silk, they were designed with coordinating colours linking the two images together, adding a painterly effect to the kitchen. The 'Spring Leaf' design over the sink, gives an impression of water and movement.
